July Ministry Update and 2014 Rifle Drawing

We're over halfway through our 2014 Summer Ministry Rifle Drawing.  For just $10 per ticket you could win a new Henry Golden Boy .22 Magnum Rifle.  It doesn't get any more cowboy than a Henry lever action rifle and joining this drawing gives you a chance to win a brand new Henry rifle all while supporting your favorite cowboy ministry.  All proceeds go towards our summer youth ministry programs at Rodeo Bible Camps, the National Junior High Finals Rodeo and the National High School Finals Rodeo.  Tickets must be purchased online through our giving partner (Perception Funding) by clicking here.

I just finished my thirteenth year of helping with the Texas Rodeo Bible Camp in Pampa, TX.  This year the number of students was a little lower than the staff was expecting but it proved to offer a great opportunity to spend more time on the individual campers.

From Pampa, I headed north to the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, WY.  This is my eighth year of partnering with Tilt James from Aztec, NM in ministering at the high school finals.  I'm so thankful that we've already had the chance to share the gospel at our outreach service on Sunday and catch up with parents and students...and it's only the first day!

Please keep the National High School Finals and our ministry here in your prayers.  Each day for the rest of the week we'll be holding morning devotions, prayer behind the chutes, and coaching students in leading the invocations at each performance.

Here's a few pictures of the week so far...

Just to show you the scope of the rodeo itself, here's a great picture of just a few of the 1,521 contestants getting ready for the first of thirteen performances.

I figured I should throw in a picture of the crowd at the first performance.  By contestants, this is the largest outdoor rodeo in the country and the majority of the spectators are family and friends.  What a great chance we have to minister to the whole family!
