Cowboy Chaplaincy

In simplest terms, chaplaincy is working with a secular organization to provide pastoral ministries to the specific culture that the organization serves.  In our world, we work with various cowboy organizations to provide church services, counseling (general and crisis), and hospitality.  As each rodeo or cowboy organization is different, the ministries that we do at each event are specific to that event.  Our basic chaplaincy ministry is going where the cowboys are and helping where we are able.

You'll have to check our schedule to see the specific events where we'll be serving.  While there are a lot of smaller rodeos and events that we have the opportunity to minister to we generally try to plan around the following...

National High School Finals Rodeo & National Junior High Finals Rodeo

The NHSFR and NJHFR are the high school and junior high school national finals rodeos of the National High School Rodeo Association.  These finals rodeos are in June and July and have the best of 41 states, 5 Canadian provinces, and Australia.  For ten years Cory has served as the chaplain of both rodeos alongside Tilt James with Lift'n & Reach'n Ministries.  Our ministries include Bible studies, prayer-behind-the-chutes, invocations at the rodeo performances, and hospital visitations (when needed).

Kansas High School Rodeos

In the spring and fall rodeo seasons we make Kansas high school rodeos our priority.  This takes up most of our fall and spring schedule.  Our involvement at each rodeo is different but our real heart is building relationships with the contestants and their families and helping meet their Spiritual needs.

American Royal Invitational Youth Rodeo

Held each September, the American Royal is one of our oldest ministries (started by our mentors in cowboy ministry - Paul & Linda Scholtz).  The Royal's Youth Invitational hosts kids from all over Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska for one of the biggest youth rodeos in the midwest.  Our ministries include Bible studies, prayer-behind-the-chutes, invocations at the rodeo performances, and hospital visitations (when needed).

McKellips' New Years Stampede

Held the last week of the year, the New Years Stampede is THE rodeo of the year for the Kansas City area.  The rodeo features cowboys from within a 200 mile radius of Kansas City.  Our ministries include Bible studies, prayer-behind-the-chutes, invocations at the rodeo performances, and hospital visitations (when needed).

This is not an exhaustive list but the events listed above are the rodeos we make a priority every year.  Be sure to check our schedule for Rodeo Bible Camps and Rural Church Ministries.
